Help us feed Veteran’s in need within-in our community by donating a meal today. For every $10.00 dollar meal you donate for a Veteran in need, we’ll allocate one extra meal for a Veteran or family member in need. A $100 dollars for meals donated, we’ll allocate an additional 10 meals for Veteran’s and their families in need during the holiday seasons. Click here to donate a meal today!
Flag Retirement
The process and tradition of properly retiring an American flag requires finding a disposal location in your area. At one of these locations (VFW, American Legion, others), your American flag can be properly retired with the respect and gravity that it is entitled. The retirement of an American flag is a time-honored tradition and one that carries a great significance.
If you have an American flag that needs to be retired, you may drop it off in our Flag box located in front of our VFW Post 2995 Foley hall on the East side of our building located at 4330 148th AVE NE. Redmond, WA. 98052.
Troop Support
The VFW is here supporting our troops day in and day out. Our members offer support to the military community in many different ways, whether that means helping military families get through long deployments or hosting send-off and welcome home events. The VFW knows how important troop support is because all of our members have been there.
Honor Gaurd
The Honor Guard of VFW Post No. 2995 mission is to provide ceremonial funeral honors for all active-duty members, veterans and retirees of all branches of the military. In addition, the Honor Guard supports a wide variety of base and community functions including changes of command, retirement ceremonies, community parades and other military honor functions.
Buddy Poppy
The VFW Buddy Poppy program provides compensation to the veterans who assemble the poppies, provides financial assistance in maintaining state and national veterans’ rehabilitation and service programs and partially supports the VFW National Home For Children.
Patriot’s Pen
Each year more than 125,000 students in grades 6-8 enter the VFW’s Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest. The first-place winner from each state competes for national awards totaling $50,000, with each first-place state winner receiving a minimum of $500 at the national level. The national first-place winner wins $5,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., in March.
The essay contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 300- to 400-word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief.
